When a building is to be demolished, the first step towards a more sustainable approach is to ask whether certain parts of it could be preserved.
Currently, it is estimated that less than 1% of the materials disposed of as waste in a construction or demolition project are actually reused.
Lionel Devlieger, one of the three founders of Rotor in 2006, shared their 10-year project to optimize construction waste.
Their approach has resulted in a kind of mapping of professionals proposing materials that can be reused from a technical point of view. (see Opalis.be).
